18 How much does towing cost in Central Texas? PRICING

Towing prices depend on the vehicle type and weight, pickup location, towing distance, destination, road access, vehicle condition, required tow truck, recovery complexity, time on scene, and any special equipment needed. Call dispatch with complete details for service-specific pricing information. Our towing service page explains several common factors that affect the cost of a tow.

19 Why can recovery service cost more than a standard tow? RECOVERY COST

Recovery work can require additional labor, winching, stabilization, rigging, traffic precautions, multiple tow trucks, heavy-duty equipment, cranes, cargo handling, debris support, spill containment, or extended time at the scene. A vehicle parked on a stable surface generally requires less work than one overturned, damaged, loaded, or located off-road.

20 Can SAS help with a vehicle impound or release question? IMPOUNDS

Contact SAS with the vehicle description, license plate when available, registered-owner information, towing location, and the agency or property connected with the tow. Release requirements, identification, proof of ownership, payment, authorization, and pickup procedures can vary depending on the tow and requesting authority. Use our vehicle-location and impound assistance page to begin locating a towed vehicle.

23 Can SAS tow box trucks, delivery trucks, and work vehicles? MEDIUM-DUTY

Yes. SAS handles many medium-duty and commercial vehicles, including box trucks, delivery trucks, work trucks, utility vehicles, service trucks, and commercial vans. Provide the vehicle type, approximate weight, height, length, load status, damage, and destination so dispatch can determine whether a medium-duty or heavy-duty wrecker is required.

24 Can SAS safely tow an all-wheel-drive or four-wheel-drive vehicle? AWD & 4WD

Yes. SAS can tow many all-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive vehicles using a method appropriate for the drivetrain, manufacturer requirements, vehicle condition, and available access. A flatbed may be recommended when keeping all wheels off the road is the safest option. Tell dispatch the year, make, model, drivetrain, damage, and whether the vehicle can roll and steer.

25 Can SAS tow a vehicle with locked wheels or one that will not shift into neutral? DISABLED VEHICLE

Often, yes. A vehicle with locked wheels, a failed transmission, damaged suspension, an engaged parking brake, or no neutral position may require skates, winching, dollies, a flatbed, or another controlled loading method. Describe which wheels move, whether the vehicle steers, the surface it is parked on, and any visible damage before dispatch.

26 Can I choose where SAS delivers my vehicle? DESTINATION

In most customer-requested towing situations, you can provide the preferred repair shop, dealership, body shop, residence, storage facility, or other lawful destination. The destination must be accessible and able to receive the vehicle. Accident, impound, law-enforcement, insurance, property, or authorization requirements may affect where a vehicle can be delivered.

27 What should a fleet manager provide when requesting commercial towing? FLEET DISPATCH

Provide the unit number, vehicle type, tractor and trailer details, approximate weight, cargo or load status, exact location, direction of travel, damage or mechanical problem, driver contact information, destination, billing or purchase-order requirements, and any site-access restrictions. Photos can help dispatch evaluate complicated commercial towing and recovery calls.

28 Can SAS recover a jackknifed tractor-trailer? JACKKNIFE RECOVERY

Yes. SAS provides recovery support for jackknifed tractor-trailers and other commercial vehicle combinations in difficult roadway positions. The recovery plan may involve stabilization, controlled winching, multiple heavy wreckers, rotating recovery equipment, traffic coordination, cargo evaluation, spill response, and towing after the combination is returned to a safer position.

29 Can SAS recover a semi-truck or commercial vehicle that left the roadway? OFF-ROAD HEAVY

Yes. SAS handles off-road heavy recovery for commercial vehicles in ditches, medians, fields, soft shoulders, mud, slopes, and other unstable positions. Dispatch reviews the tractor and trailer configuration, cargo, terrain, distance from stable pavement, damage, access, and surrounding hazards before determining the number of wreckers, winch lines, rigging points, and support units required.

30 What heavy-duty recovery equipment does SAS use? RECOVERY EQUIPMENT

SAS uses equipment selected for the specific vehicle and recovery conditions, including 25-ton wreckers, 50-ton wreckers, rotating wreckers, heavy-haul and lowboy trailers, flatbed carriers, recovery-support units, specialized rigging, winches, load-transfer equipment, and air-cushion recovery tools. Not every incident requires every type of equipment.

31 Does SAS coordinate heavy recovery with first responders and roadway agencies? SCENE COORDINATION

When a complex incident requires it, SAS may coordinate recovery operations with law enforcement, fire departments, EMS, roadway personnel, environmental teams, fleet representatives, cargo companies, and other involved parties. Coordination can help manage traffic exposure, scene access, vehicle stabilization, spill hazards, cargo handling, and the order of recovery work.

32 Does SAS provide mobile crane service in Central Texas? MOBILE CRANE

Yes. SAS provides mobile crane and heavy-lift support for planned projects and emergency recoveries throughout Central Texas. Services can include equipment lifting, machinery placement, truck and trailer uprights, load transfers, dock lifts, crane-assisted loading, construction support, and emergency commercial recovery work.

33 What information is needed to request a mobile crane or heavy-lift quote? CRANE QUOTE

Provide the lift location, equipment or object being moved, estimated weight, dimensions, available lift points, pickup and final position, required reach, site access, ground conditions, overhead clearance, nearby structures, preferred date, and photos when available. Complete information helps determine the crane, rigging, setup area, and support equipment required.

34 Can SAS use a mobile crane to place generators, HVAC units, or machinery? EQUIPMENT PLACEMENT

Yes. Mobile crane support may be used for generator placement, HVAC equipment placement, machinery positioning, heavy-equipment lifting, dock work, industrial yard support, and other controlled lifts. Each job is reviewed for weight, balance, lift points, rigging, required reach, clearance, ground stability, access, and final placement.

35 Can SAS use crane or rotating recovery equipment to upright a truck or trailer? VEHICLE UPRIGHT

Yes. Depending on the incident, SAS may use mobile crane, rotating wrecker, rigging, stabilization, and heavy-recovery equipment to upright an overturned truck, trailer, or commercial vehicle. The plan considers vehicle weight, cargo movement, trailer condition, ground stability, working space, recovery angles, attachment points, traffic, and nearby hazards.

36 What sizes of shipping containers can SAS move? CONTAINER SIZES

SAS provides shipping and storage container moving for common 20-foot, 40-foot, 45-foot, and 53-foot units. Container condition, loaded weight, access, route, lifting points, transport equipment, and final placement requirements are reviewed before the move is scheduled.

37 Can SAS move a loaded shipping or storage container? LOADED CONTAINERS

A loaded container may be movable, but it requires additional review. Tell SAS what the container holds, the estimated total weight, how the contents are distributed and secured, the container condition, and whether there are restricted or hazardous materials. Weight, structural condition, lifting points, trailer capacity, route limits, and placement access determine whether and how the move can be completed.

38 What information is needed for a shipping-container moving quote? CONTAINER QUOTE

Provide the container length, whether it is empty or loaded, approximate weight, current condition, pickup address, delivery address, desired placement and door orientation, access restrictions, gate and driveway dimensions, surface and terrain conditions, overhead obstacles, preferred timing, and clear photos of the container and both sites.

39 What site access and clearance are needed to move a container? SITE ACCESS

The truck and placement equipment need sufficient gate and driveway width, turning room, overhead clearance, stable ground, and access to the requested placement area. Power lines, tree limbs, buildings, fences, slopes, soft soil, mud, weak pavement, drainage features, and nearby structures can change the equipment plan. Photos and measurements help identify restrictions before arrival.

40 What affects the cost of moving a shipping container? CONTAINER COST

Container-moving pricing depends on transport distance, container size and loaded weight, pickup and delivery access, terrain, ground stability, trailer or crane requirements, route restrictions, final placement complexity, permits or escorts, equipment availability, and scheduling. Straightforward pickup and placement usually require less work than tight-access or crane-assisted moves.

41 What types of heavy equipment and machinery can SAS transport? EQUIPMENT TYPES

SAS transports many types of construction, agricultural, municipal, utility, and industrial equipment. Examples include excavators, mini excavators, bulldozers, track loaders, skid steers, wheel loaders, backhoes, graders, rollers, trenchers, tractors, farm machinery, forklifts, material handlers, man lifts, scissor lifts, generators, compressors, attachments, and jobsite materials. View our equipment transport services.

42 Can SAS transport disabled, damaged, or inoperable machinery? INOPERABLE EQUIPMENT

Yes. SAS can transport many non-running, damaged, burned, vandalized, stuck, or mechanically disabled machines. Equipment that cannot roll, steer, brake, or support its weight may require winching, rigging, heavy-recovery support, ramps, or mobile crane assistance before it can be loaded and secured for transport.

43 What information is needed for an equipment-hauling quote? HAULING QUOTE

Provide the equipment type, make and model, approximate weight, length, width and height, attachments, operating condition, loading ability, pickup and delivery addresses, access and ground conditions, preferred date, and photos. Mention whether the machine rolls, steers, brakes, starts, or needs winching, rigging, recovery, or crane-assisted loading.

44 What affects heavy-equipment transport pricing? HAULING COST

Equipment-hauling rates depend on the machine size and weight, transport distance, operating condition, loading method, required trailer, winching or crane support, access and ground conditions, route limits, permits, escorts, attachments, delivery complexity, scheduling, and equipment availability. Complete measurements and site details help produce a more accurate quote.

45 Does Texas Truck & Trailer repair semi-trucks and commercial vehicles? TRUCK REPAIR

Yes. Texas Truck & Trailer, a division of SAS Road Solutions, provides big-truck repair in Liberty Hill for semi-trucks, 18-wheelers, tractor-trailers, Class 8 trucks, commercial diesel vehicles, fleet equipment, and commercial trailers. The truck repair shop can be reached at (512) 267-8787.

Service capabilities include diesel engines and diagnostics; DPF, DOC, SCR, and emissions systems; transmissions, clutches, drivelines, axles, and differentials; air and hydraulic brakes; suspension and steering; electrical and charging systems; cooling and overheating concerns; hydraulics and PTO equipment; trailers and reefers; tires; air conditioning; preventive maintenance; fleet service; and DOT preparation.

47 What information should I provide when requesting big-truck repair? REPAIR REQUEST

Provide the truck year, make, model, engine, mileage, fault codes, warning lights, symptoms, recent repairs or maintenance, operating conditions, location, and whether the vehicle can be driven safely to the Liberty Hill shop. Photos or videos can help when they clearly show a leak, warning message, damaged component, smoke, noise, or other concern.

48 What spills and hazardous materials can SAS respond to? HAZMAT & SPILLS

SAS provides licensed environmental and hazmat response for incidents involving diesel, gasoline, crude oil, motor oil, lubricants, transmission fluid, coolant, antifreeze, hydraulic fluid, commercial vehicle fluids, cargo-related releases, hazardous materials, hazardous waste, roadway contamination, and threats to storm drains or waterways.

49 What information should I provide when reporting a fuel, oil, or hazmat spill? SPILL DISPATCH

Provide the exact location, known or suspected material, estimated quantity, whether the release is active, the vehicle or container involved, scene and traffic conditions, nearby storm drains, ditches or waterways, fire or other active hazards, whether emergency personnel are on scene, the responding agency contact, and photos only when they can be taken safely.

50 What affects environmental spill and hazmat cleanup cost? CLEANUP COST

Pricing depends on the material and hazard classification, estimated volume, affected area, surface and terrain, monitoring needs, containment products, labor, cleanup equipment, vehicle stabilization or towing, recovered material, packaging, transportation, disposal requirements, documentation, roadway conditions, and overall incident complexity.

51 Do I need to be present when my vehicle is towed? CUSTOMER PRESENCE

Presence requirements depend on the type of tow, vehicle access, keys, authorization, payment arrangements, pickup property, destination, and any law-enforcement, insurance, impound, or account instructions. Tell dispatch if you cannot remain with the vehicle so the required authorization and access steps can be confirmed before the truck is sent.

52 Can SAS tow my vehicle if I do not have the keys? NO VEHICLE KEYS

It may be possible, depending on the vehicle, steering and transmission position, wheel condition, parking location, access, and proof of authorization. A no-key tow can require skates, dollies, winching, a flatbed, or additional loading time. Tell dispatch that the keys are unavailable before the tow truck is assigned.

53 Does SAS tow motorcycles and scooters? MOTORCYCLE TOWING

Yes. SAS provides towing and transport for motorcycles and scooters. Tell dispatch the make and model, approximate weight, wheel and steering condition, damage, current position, access, pickup location, and destination. The operator will use an appropriate loading and securement method for the motorcycle and conditions.

54 Can SAS tow classic, luxury, or low-clearance vehicles? SPECIALTY VEHICLES

SAS can tow many classic, luxury, specialty, and low-clearance vehicles. A flatbed, careful approach angle, controlled winching, soft securement, additional clearance equipment, or another loading method may be used depending on the vehicle design and condition. Share photos and ground-clearance concerns with dispatch before pickup.

55 Can SAS tow or transport a disabled trailer? TRAILER TOWING

SAS may be able to tow or transport utility trailers, cargo trailers, travel trailers, commercial trailers, and other trailer types. Dispatch needs the trailer length, width, height, axle count, approximate loaded weight, cargo, hitch condition, tire and wheel condition, damage, location, and destination to determine the proper equipment and whether cargo must be stabilized first.

56 Can SAS help with a dead battery, flat tire, lockout, or empty fuel tank? ROADSIDE OPTIONS

Roadside-service availability depends on the vehicle, exact issue, location, traffic exposure, road conditions, required tools, and current resources. Tell dispatch whether you need battery assistance, tire help, lockout support, fuel assistance, or another service. Dispatch will confirm whether roadside service is available or whether towing is the safer solution.

57 What is the difference between towing and vehicle recovery? TOWING VS RECOVERY

A standard tow generally moves a vehicle that is accessible and positioned on a stable surface. Recovery is the work required to reach, stabilize, upright, winch, lift, reposition, or remove a vehicle that is overturned, off-road, stuck, damaged, loaded, blocked by obstacles, or unsafe to tow in its current position. Recovery can require more time, labor, planning, and equipment.

58 How do I locate a vehicle that was towed by law enforcement or from a property? LOCATE VEHICLE

Use the Locate Your Car page or contact SAS with the vehicle year, make, model, color, license plate, VIN when available, registered-owner name, approximate towing location, date and time, and the law-enforcement agency, property, or requesting party connected with the tow. Providing complete details helps staff search the correct records.

59 What documents may be required to retrieve an impounded vehicle? RELEASE DOCUMENTS

Requirements vary by the tow and requesting authority, but customers may be asked for valid identification, proof of ownership or authorized possession, vehicle registration or title information, insurance when applicable, payment, and any law-enforcement, court, lienholder, company, or property authorization required for release. Confirm the exact requirements before traveling to the storage location.

60 Can someone else retrieve an impounded vehicle for the owner? AUTHORIZED PICKUP

Possibly, but authorization requirements vary. A representative may need written authorization, a power of attorney, company authorization, lienholder documentation, identification, proof of ownership, or another form required by the tow or requesting authority. Contact SAS before pickup to confirm whether third-party release is allowed and which documents must be presented.

61 What is the difference between the headquarters and the individual locations? LOCATIONS

The SAS headquarters is the company’s primary administrative and operational office. Individual SAS locations are working yards that support local towing and recovery operations, house tow trucks or equipment, and may handle vehicle storage or approved releases. Services available to the public can differ by location, so call ahead before visiting a yard.

62 Are quotes or estimates provided before dispatch? ESTIMATES

Yes. SAS can provide a quote or service estimate before dispatch when the necessary details are available. Give dispatch the vehicle or equipment type, exact location, destination, condition, access limitations, towing distance, and requested service. Final charges may change if the conditions, equipment requirements, recovery work, mileage, or time on scene differ from the information originally provided.

63 Which payment methods are accepted? PAYMENT

SAS accepts standard payment methods for towing, recovery, transport, repair, and vehicle-release services. For an impound release, fleet account, insurance claim, or specialized commercial job, contact SAS before service or pickup to confirm any authorization, billing, identification, or location-specific requirements.

64 Is direct insurance billing available? INSURANCE BILLING

Direct insurance billing is available in some cases. Eligibility depends on the service, insurer, claim status, required authorization, coverage, documentation, and billing arrangement. Provide the insurance company, claim number, adjuster information, and any written authorization so SAS can determine whether direct billing can be used for the call.

65 Are fleet accounts and consolidated billing offered? FLEET ACCOUNTS

Fleet accounts and consolidated billing are available in some cases for approved commercial customers. Account options depend on service volume, coverage needs, credit approval, billing requirements, locations, vehicle types, and the towing, roadside, recovery, repair, or transport services requested. Contact SAS to discuss whether an account arrangement is available for your company.

66 Are after-hours, weekend, or holiday fees different? 24/7 PRICING

No. SAS does not charge a different fee solely because a call occurs after hours, on a weekend, or on a holiday. The total still depends on the vehicle, distance, service type, equipment required, recovery complexity, access, time on scene, and other job-specific conditions.

67 Can passengers ride with the tow-truck operator? PASSENGERS

In some cases. Passenger transportation depends on available seating and seat belts, the tow truck assigned, the number and age of passengers, safety conditions, pets or personal items, destination, and company or scene restrictions. Tell dispatch how many people are with the vehicle so the available options can be reviewed before the operator arrives.

68 How are EVs and vehicles with damaged high-voltage systems handled? ELECTRIC VEHICLES

Electric and hybrid vehicles are evaluated case by case so the correct loading, towing, and safety approach can be selected. Tell dispatch that the vehicle is electric or hybrid and report any battery damage, warning messages, leaking fluid, smoke, heat, fire exposure, collision damage, or submersion. A flatbed or other manufacturer-appropriate transport method may be used, while damaged high-voltage systems can require additional scene precautions and coordination with emergency personnel.

69 Can SAS transport lowered, exotic, or modified vehicles? SPECIALTY VEHICLES

In some cases. SAS can transport many lowered, exotic, custom, performance, or modified vehicles when suitable equipment and access are available. Provide the ground clearance, modifications, vehicle dimensions, wheel and tire condition, operating condition, pickup surface, loading access, and destination so dispatch can determine whether a flatbed, controlled winching, additional ramps, or another loading method is appropriate.

70 Are storage yards open to the public, and during which hours? STORAGE HOURS

SAS storage yards are open to the public for approved vehicle-release business from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Yard access is limited to authorized purposes and can depend on release eligibility, required documents, payment, and the specific location holding the vehicle. Call before traveling to confirm the correct yard and pickup requirements.

71 Which documents and payment forms are accepted at each impound location? RELEASE REQUIREMENTS

SAS accepts standard ownership, authorization, identification, and payment documentation that satisfies the requirements for the specific vehicle release. Because the required documents can depend on the registered owner, lienholder, company, law-enforcement agency, court, property, or requesting authority connected with the tow, contact the impound location before pickup to confirm exactly what must be presented.

72 Does dispatch provide an estimated arrival window? ARRIVAL WINDOW

Yes. Dispatch can provide an estimated arrival window based on the assigned operator, current location, traffic, weather, road conditions, equipment requirements, and active calls. Because conditions can change, the estimate is not a guaranteed arrival time. Call SAS for updated status information if you need a more current arrival estimate.

73 Are text-message arrival updates available? TEXT UPDATES

Text-message arrival updates are available in some cases. Availability can depend on the service, dispatch system, operator assignment, customer phone number, and call status. Provide a mobile number when requesting service and ask dispatch whether text updates are available for that call. Customers can also call for the latest status.

74 Is roadside assistance available separately from towing? ROADSIDE ONLY

In some cases. Roadside assistance may be provided without towing when the vehicle, problem, location, safety conditions, and available resources allow the issue to be handled at the scene. Describe the breakdown to dispatch so SAS can determine whether a roadside-only response is available or whether towing is the safer option.

75 Can the customer choose the towing destination? DESTINATION

Yes. For customer-requested towing, the customer can generally choose the destination, such as a repair shop, dealership, body shop, home, storage facility, or another approved location. The destination must be legally accessible and able to accept the vehicle. Law-enforcement, property, impound, insurance, or other authorized tows may have different destination requirements.

76 Does SAS provide long-distance transportation? LONG-DISTANCE

Yes. SAS provides scheduled long-distance towing and transportation for many passenger vehicles, motorcycles, RVs, commercial vehicles, trailers, machinery, and equipment. Provide the pickup location, destination, vehicle or equipment details, condition, dimensions, preferred schedule, and access restrictions so the correct transport method and quote can be prepared.
